Let Music Be

Let Music Be

A Poem by MaryP
"

Music has saved me countless times, let it save you too.

"

Let music be your mother

Let it hold your hand

Let it nurse your broken heart

Let it understand

Let music be your father

Let it protect your heart

Let it carry you on its shoulders

Let it give you a head start

Let music be your best friend

Let it laugh along with you

Let it hear all of your secrets

Let it challenge your point of view

Let music be your lover

Let it hold you close

Let it make you feel special

Let it help you to grow

You should find a tune of your own

For with a few nice words and a good steady beat

You will never feel alone

Aww, I liked this a lot! Music is such a significant part of my life, and I thought that you did an exceptional job in capturing that magic that I experience on a daily basis. I really liked the concept behind this poem, with music being the 'mother', 'father', 'best friend', and 'lover', as it was something that I had never come across before, yet was able to understand and relate to it wholeheartedly. In a way, I wish you had split the one large stanza up into several stanzas, as I think this would have made it a lot easier to read and look at visually. Other than that though, I really enjoyed this! The last stanza was the perfect way to some up what music is. :) Nice work,

Very true. Listening to music can be medicinal, especially music that takes you back to your youth, to the the good 'ol days, or just uplifts you with encouraging lyrics. It occupies a lonely mind. I agree, I like this true, well-written write. Thanks for sharing it!
