the fairies at the bottom of the garden

the fairies at the bottom of the garden

A Poem by MaryP

The fairies at the bottom of the garden

Dance and twirl and sing

They whisper secrets and songs

About beautiful, terrible things

Their wings sparkle with the tears

Of broken hearted girls

Look closely and you’ll see

The serpents within their curls

They smile delicately

They cackle and they scream

They look on in delight

At the ruins of childhood dreams
