a man of contradiction

a man of contradiction

A Poem by MaryP

They preach about a man

Who hides in the clouds

Away from the evil he has created

They say he has ten laws

Each one is broken every day

He is omnipotent

He is omniscient

He is benevolent

Yet he hides away

He watches the cruelty

He ignores the constant pleas.

The teachers tell of a man

Who created man

A man who abhors hatred

Yet creates so much worthy of it

They teach a contradiction

And yet they cannot understand

Why they are overwhelmed

With atheists and agnostics

My friends, its because the world

Is not as naïve as it used to be.

I'm agnostic, so any believers reading this please don't take offence. It's not that I don't believe in a God, it's just that I don't appreciate being expected to swallow the contradictions.

It's true in a way. How is anyone suppose to believe in something that merely watches the suffering? I can tell right now that you are an amazing artist. I really hope that you will continue to write these beautiful poems.
