Coping

Coping

A Poem by MaryP

Sitting alone it’s easy to ponder

on the world and its secrets.

You can look at the darkness

And forget about light.

Similarly, you can cry

and forget how to smile.

Sometimes you must survive,

along the way you forget to live

You realise, too late,

that you are simply coping

Its these times that you must

plug yourself in to your favourite song.

You must eat your favourite meal,

you must remember your favourite day.

You must recall what it is like to feel alive.

Then you must live.
