Mr. Perfect

Mr. Perfect

A Poem by Noche
"

When you meet him and he sweeps you off your feet, I hope you can remember me.

"
Mr. Perfect, can't you see,
Someone's waiting for your company,
It isn't polite to keep her waiting,
So why are you hesitating?

Come on over and take her away,
Show her an absolute "perfect" day,
Take her to the theater and watch a play,
Then go to dinner with everything to say.

Walk around and hold her hand,
Draw your names in the sand,
And put a heart around it all,
With her around your arm, stand tall.

Tell her she's beautiful, she's talented, and fun,
Make her feel that she's the only one,
That you have eyes for and won't betray,
Her trust in any possible way.

Mr. Perfect, be the best,
Since you're not like the rest,
Of us "normal" guys who couldn't be,
Anymore than a "friend" in her company.

Because, Mr. Perfect, can't you see,
That you've been more to her than me?
Treat her nice, treat her well,
Make sure not only time will tell.

That you two have a say much stronger,
Having a bond that'll last much longer,
Mr. Perfect, take her away,
And leave me in my dismay.

But don't you dare make her cry,
Don't you dare give her a reason why,
To come back to the guy who was "just good enough,"
The one who was never that tough.

The guy who wasn't very strong,
The guy who was in the wrong,
In keeping her away from you,
Who said so many things not true.

Take her, please, and just go,
Show her the time she deserves to know,
Bring her the world, her hopes, her dreams,
Fix all the broken seams.

Mr. Perfect, please come soon,
And take her under the light of the moon,
Make her happy, because you see,
It's the only request, from me.

I may not be as good of a guy,
But I can't say I didn't try,
So please, take her, and make her smile,
Make this pain all worthwhile.

To her, I know soon I'll be a fond memory,
But try your best not to forget me...

Oh, so very and i mean VERY poignant and sadly, so true.

Giving up the person you love to someone you know will do them more good. Possibly more than you have.

I tell you, the "Heart-Break Game" Sucks! You'd probably already know all about that though.

I really enjoyed this poem. It's relate-able, it's true and it's also filled with emotion.

It keeps you interested and engaged all the way through.

Great write and well done.

This is one of those rare poems that, if you can relate, speaks to your very bones, and resonates with something deep inside you.

Even to those who can't, it gives so much food for thought. It makes me question myself, makes me wonder if I would have the strength to let go of the person I love if I knew someone could give them better.

And that is just the kind of thought provoking and emotional poem that speaks of a deep personal connection between poem and poet. I honestly commend you for this wonderful work of art, no matter what the consequences surrounding it may be.
