To end in iceA Poem by em810She walks on and on and on Her feet don’t tire But muscles begin to fade Her strength wavers Eyes flash It’s ice cold The ground The air Her finger tips Every vibration Is a sensation But the pain The everyday burn Sinks deeper Flowing Deep inside the cavities of the heart Turning tissue to metal The gears are put in place Face goes blank She keeps on and on and on Facing a fence But she’s lost her key And it grows Taller and taller Unable to climb Unable to move Unable to stand still Without a place She collapses I feel it in my veins Liquid metal courses through Golden hair and platinum eyes Silver skin and chrome-colored nails She’s so far gone She left a long time ago A steely heart is much Much better than A vulnerable one Exposed For all the world to see The cracks and scars and burns and Well she thought so You did it You did it You did it I breathe on and on and on But One day It stops I choke And I gasp But my heart hasn’t turned to stone It’s just frozen Because the world was to end in ice © 2013 em810 |
