For all that can't be seen

For all that can't be seen

A Poem by Emily Rose
"

A poem I'd written in response to a prompt: "write something that is inspired by what you can't see". A more positive piece coming in to the New Year.

"
For all that can't be seen
With the gift of vision we've been given
Does not simply mean
It is not within the plane of existence

Earth's guarantee of gravity
Nature's reminder of mortality
Life's search for vitality.
Not to be seen and rarely acknowledged
Though they inspire our reality

Just like our favourite songs
And knowing the rights from wrongs
How we feel when the sun sets
Or when we realise our regrets

All intangible
Impossible to touch
Yet their impact
Creates and inner rush

For they remind us
That we are living
And in ourselves we trust
Chances for new beginnings
Chances to be forgiving
To be forgiven
And passions that keep us driven

You see, we don't have to see
In order to be
Living a life so completely.

So put your hand to your chest
Feel what's beating beneath
That how we know
That's what lets us breathe

Hold onto that feeling
In all parts of your being
And from there you will see
The joy that is living

"Yet their impact
Creates and inner rush" - an?

An interesting prompt... I do believe that most writers find a white page very, very intimidating. But personally, I find most prompts actually limiting or a distraction as to why I sat at the desk or table to begin with. We - you and I - have something we wish to express; something we FEEL should be shared that will enhance our and others understanding of existence, reality, perceptions, or even "none of the above". Prompts serve as another person's directions of what needs be our own thought flows. I'm open to any discussion.

Hey Chris!
It is supposed to be 'an' not 'and'. Thank you for picking up on that!

Thanks for sharing. Reading this made me feel a little better as I try to pull myself out of post-covid brain fog. A lovely reminder that these things that can't be seen aren't going anywhere even when we don't properly acknowledge them.

I found this piece to be pretty positive in itself. Nothing negative at all about what you have stated unless there is something between the line that "can't be seen." Nicely done
