Double Edged Nothing

Double Edged Nothing

A Poem by Liz

I dream of only you
In the night I wake
alone and sobbing.
And when I slip back into sleep
you reappear and see me with a wicked
grin for you know my secret.
My greatest desires
can be made real in that world in between
unconsciousness and reality.

When the light shines through my
window waking me to this hellish existance
I long for the place
traveled to only by the sleeping
and those who appear to be.

I seek only to travel there again
And in the fitful state of waking
I can not breathe. I find this happens a lot
as I steady myself for its permanance.
And while I walk about the day, oh daylight
seems to be the dream turned nightmare.

The desire to stay in the world in between
taunts me.
I greet it with a smile.
