lovers' springA Poem by unspokenguiltwhen spring isn't enough
I tried to breathe without you but it only made me hurt
I tried to live without you now I’m lying in the dirt
You called my name and my heart would sing
A foolish song of lovers’ spring
You glanced my way and heard me say
I’d love you
Forever
Always
At last
I kept you close
Because I figured you brought out the best in me
I held you near because I felt I needed you
But really I was scared
of losing you
Forever
Always
At last
You kissed my lips and held my hand
In our foolish song of lovers’ spring
You dried my eyes and held me close
When others would push me away
And you promised
Forever
Always
At last
You were always there when I needed you
But when I needed you the most you were far away
And when you said you met another
Had at last met your precious summer
That you were sure I didn’t need you anymore
I knew it would hurt
Forever
Always
At last
Your promise left broken and bare
Just like my heart
In that loathed song of summer’s lust
