Marked Fate

“It’ll be fun!” my mom said excited.

I never believed in that kind of stuff, but the grownups said why not. So I stupidly followed. I had just been through a horrible breakup, and they figured I could use a girl’s night out, problem was all my girls were 39 and over. Fortune tellers get real, I thought.

The lady was mysterious; she didn’t look like those gypsy ones you see on TV not at all. Her eyes I remember that day were cold and piercing as if she could see right through me.

“What questions do you wish answered?” her voice creaked.

“Death…” came a whisper.

It was my grandma Sophia; obviously she was always speaking of death. She grew up with all this superstitious nonsense. Over the years it had drove me crazy, when we were going places with her I’d feel people were staring at the crazy old woman. Who wouldn’t with her long grey hair a mess and flowing clothes dusty with ash from her little attempts to ward away “evil” she could certainly ward away the shoppers with her garlic clove necklace laying stiff across her chest. She believed in all the Hocus Pocus, vampires, werewolves, witches both good and bad, the devil and her Savior.

The fortune tellers face had turned from scary to scared if only for a minute.

“How about something else mom.” my mom said to my grandma, a look of discomfort on her face.

However the fortune teller continued, “All they allow me to tell you is the order.” My grandma had a face of disappointment, as she wanted how, when and where.

“Well that was bogus!” my mom said putting down here own idea, “she couldn’t be more wrong.”

The reason for her skepticalism… it was foretold that I was to die before my grandma.

As the years past so did the woman there that night and it just so happens in the same way predicted. So you can see that I’m a little nervous seeing that… I’m next.

^# Should I turn it into a vamp story? My main character would be dead in a way if she’s turned into a vamp.

^# grandma Sophia turns out to be a vampire hunter in her early years fell in love with a vamp.

^# main character happens to be Sophia’s vamp the one she couldn’t kill how will she feel about that when he takes her only grand child? Vamps name? Darius / Kaleb / Emett / Jasper?
