Diamond

Diamond

A Poem by Elyne Knight
"

"

this diamond I wear

dark-sparkling, earth-born

durable and heavy

it's a romantic lump

of carbon grit

mined and faceted

setting manufactured

by a global consortium

it's a complex thing

not nearly as transparent

as my heart.

A diamond and your heart. Ah, yes. Lovely thought.

Thank you very much Andrew!
Diamonds are complex. They look beautiful in a ring. I doubt that many who wear diamonds give much thought as to how they form. Nice idea for a poem.

Thank you Chris! Things that are both symbols and physical objects always intrigue me.

The brevity of your words well accomplish your intent to wow this reader. I love it!
