A Weeping Soul

A Weeping Soul

A Poem by Elvis Gilley
"

I am not sure. I was just moved by the music of the Soundtrack of The Stoning of Soraya M. I just kinds let go of a bunch of unresolved emotions. I hope they make sense.

"

A splatter

Of blood

Leaving a deceitful pattern

On the hearts of men

A Muslim cries

A Christian dies

While sacrificial blood paints our walls

The homes of doubt

The minds about

While women with no opinion

Submit to a man’s dominion

A dream

A vision

A nightmare of chance

A tyrannical dance

Who I watch

Who do I hear?

What is truth I seek?

For I am lost in the land of the meek

Confused and afraid

For the price was paid

By men greater than I

Men unashamed to die

Before me I watch man’s seed

As before my eyes she bleeds

The life of veins

Spurts and drains

Another life ends

Another soul ascends

A wasted journey for a soul

There goes grief unforetold

So as I walk in her presence

I shall weep for her absence

Yet, another love lost

A lady I loved at any cost
