Retail King

Retail King

A Poem by Elvis Gilley
"

How I see Wal Mart.

"

A stumbled step

Trips my soul will behold

Weakened knees

Lead to pain untold

Aching joints

Freezing feet

Unkind words

My ears oft meet

Chattering fools

Waddling lines

Wandering aimless

Accepting these times

Hopelessly I stand

Biting my lip

For impatience

Is the cup from which I sip

Another toy,

Brings home joy

Another Christmas is gone

Precious hours lost

Never more to return

I can’t afford their cost

So congratulations

On another venture

To the retail king

For it is their praises we sing

Forsaking love

for mans affection

Bringing forth the tears

Of yet more rejection
