9:49

9:49

A Poem by Elvis Gilley
"

The lasting memory of a love lost.

"

I awoke that fateful morn

with love in my arms

now fingers write of a heart that's torn

I awoke to your sweet kiss

yet tonight alone

I write of my love who I miss

Five hours have passed

A puddle of tears

upon my shirt sleeve has amassed

I wonder how you are

if you are safe

if you know my heart is lost afar

Do you know what is the time?

Do you realize?

I left my heart with you, at 9:49 this night.
