Faith

Faith

A Poem by Elvis Gilley
"

The cost of faith and the moral way.

"

Sufferings of yesterday are the roads to chaos.

Sorrow is the path to continual failure.

Apprehension is the motivator of tormented souls.

Memories of rejection are merely the reminders of heartache.

In the corridors of my mind, I witness a child.

A little boy afraid to confront his troublesome past.

Alone, in the shadows he weeps as the thoughts of solitude flow.

He prays that somehow God will answer his pleas.

Does anyone hear his lonesome tears or do we really care?

Wrath swells within him for trust is the issue.

He trembles in agony as thoughts of doubt begin  to cloud his soul.

For this child knows that faith is the key to his survival.

Humbly, he kneels before his Lord.

Seeking shelter from the broken promises of life.

For I am an adolescent trapped in this adult world.

What must I do to maintain my balance?

Help Lord, for this flesh is weak.

This heart grows faint my eyes grow weary.

Restore me God and place within me a measure of joy.

For this has been costly for me.

The clouds of deceit surround me,

as I lie upon the ground.

Blood seeps from my wounds,

this war of trust has been agonizing.

I am overwhelmed with burdens Father.

Free me from these shackles this night I pray.
