Blinded by the MediaA Poem by sincerelyroseA poem looking at the effects that the media has on individuals based purely on their exterior
Louder, louder, louder on the news
Yet another man who's been falsely accused Print after print, pictures repeated Another persons life wrongly depleted. The media again cling on to the rumours The eccentrics, the freaks, are what feed our own humours. Playing on appearances, who they think must be 'different' That's what fuels our brains and paints out the guilty victims. The pretty, the beautiful, the desired get our sympathy But the weird, the outcasts, they don't deserve our empathy? The chains are off, the case is closed Yet those who are now deemed innocent are harshly disposed. The papers are wronged now Their mistakes seen by all But still the ones whose lives are shattered Are forgotten until the next media brawl.
