Overgrown

Overgrown

A Poem by Claire Marie
"

I was up late one night when this metaphor came to mind, and I haven't decided if its good or not yet. It's actually more coherent than my other insomniac poetry. I hope you enjoy.

"
You planted your lips
On the cracks in my surface,
And they grew
Into a beautiful, overgrown garden.

But then, you abandoned
The beautiful landscape
And it became a neglected,
Untamed eyesore.

The planted kiss that once guarded
The cracks in my surface
Now seeped like vines in the faults,
Prying apart and eating away at me.

I sit in agony
Feeling the kiss thriving and growing
Inside of me, unforgiving,
And I pray you will come back to tame it.

Please, come back,
And either uproot this kiss,
Or trim it back to
The beauty it once was.

Please,
I'm crumbling.

Claire Marie
I'm interested in hearing what your interpretation is. What are the "cracks in my surface" representing? What is the planted kiss protecting these cracks from? Let me know what your take on it is.
