I'm No Poet

This one is rather old. I hope you like it? I've found a few old ones in a notebook that I may post throughout the evening. Let me know what you think. :)

Don't get me wrong;
I am not a good poet.
I don't think so
And no one else, either.

Still I keep writing,
Though I'm not sure why.
Why keep writing,
When you're no good?

If you were to take
The wings off a bug,
Would it try to continue
To fly?

Maybe it would try.
Maybe it was its last hope.
I guess that's what this is:
A last hope.

A hope for what,
Exactly?
I could not answer
Any better than you.

I just write sentences
Broken up
Where I think
It would sound better.

Is that all a poet is,
I wonder to myself?
Surely not.
There must be talent there.

Or is it just
What they write about,
Not just how
They put it together?

Regardless the answer,
I still am not a good poet.
But I will continue to try
To write.

I love this The bug metaphor is especially brilliant. I am similar to you in that I know that I'm not good, and yet I continue to write. I guess its just something I love to do, and that's all that's important in life in the end right?

Thank you! Sorry this reply is so late, I've been busy the past couple of days. But I'm glad you could relate to it, and in the end it is just doing what we love, if nothing else. I really appreciate the feedback :)
