Does The Devil Cry?

Does The Devil Cry?

A Poem by Elliot Kyron
"

Can't you see what we lost? Can't you see what we gave up? Why? Why did you let go? You thought it was an escape. Do you see now? You gave yourself up. You sold yourself to the devil. You said there was nothing left. Yet I was there along.

"

Broken...

I sit here, on the cold pavement at the end of the road.
The cool autumn breeze dances around me. It whispers and hums along with the fall coloured leaves, as a tear escapes my eye.
This pain seems unbearable.

Empty...

I take out a framed memory from my pocket. Both of us together. I grip it tightly.
We threw so much away. It makes me wonder.

Why is the devil the way he is?
Maybe it's an escape from the pain.

Why did he create such a horrid place called Hell?
Perhaps it's because of the burning mistakes he made.

Does the devil cry?

I glance downward at the photo in my hands. Rain had begun to fall, staining the glass.
I put a hand before me, feeling the pouring of the sky.
Thunder roars in the sky above me.

A bitter smile forms on my lips.

Yes.

I believe he does.

This is amazing! I love the whole style and the story behind it. It's also so imagery based, I could see everything happening as you explained it. I love it!! Great work. (:

If he had tears to cry...they would be candle wax and melting into his face all the time.

This is a really interesting thought though...Since "there are no tears in heaven" perhaps the opposite IS true of hell. I dunno--I've never been.

Really pretty and interesting write!

... and I nearly cried with him upon reading. Sympathy for the devil? Yes... I believe we can all relate. Amazing.

Very haunting and dramatic. I'm quite reluctant to believe in a devil these days. After all we seem to do enough damage to outselves?

Devil crying is an interesting concept, this means he may actually believe he's sometimes wrong. Who would've thought that the devil had a conscience!

Ooooh! You are VERY good! 8D It was eerie, but at the same time, a very beautiful poem. I like the text - "A bitter smile forms on my lips." and the last line gave me chills! (Kinda makes me wanna comfort the crying devil...) 8''(

Giving the devil almost human qualities with a human conscious, I feel, reflects the "evil" in a person...everyone does cry, good or bad. Very thought provoking. I will be back to read this again!

I really love this poem. It made me think about the whole idea of heaven and hell all over again. The idea that the devil made it in order to escape his guilt is not something I would've thought of in a million years. It's been said before but I especially love the ending too.
"I beleive he does"
Perfect.

I really liked this. The use of irregular meter really helps convey the tone of the piece. Great finish, too.

Awesome story. Very descriptive. It progresses very smoothly, too. I love how it ends:

"Yes.
I believe he does."

The spacing makes it that much stronger.
