i was walking

early morning thoughts. . . they don't always make sense :) but oh well

as i was walking

along the shoreline

i found a tiny starfish.

i became entraced with this little piece of nature

and i sat and stared at him for hours.

as the sun started to set

over the water,

an orangeish-goldish hue washing over the sand and me

warming my cold soul

a smile broke on my face.

"if something as simple

yet complex

as a starfish smaller than the palm of my hand

can make me smile,

why am i so sad?"

and as that little starfish held onto the rock

for dear life.

i realized i needed to let go.
