Glass

Glass

A Poem by MiaIntheSkywithDiamonds

Her gaze, skimming across the glass

Like a gull over the ocean waters,

Turned at once dull and stony

Her tongue emerged from between her crackling lips,

A snake ducking in and out of his burrow,

Retreated to the damp black cave.

It spat curses behind the milky boulders,

Swearing for another vessel, less unshapely than before.

Her hands slithered unto her metallic comb

And flung it into the other's face

Shattering the mirror.

This has a very unique symbolism, I could only gues what it symbolises to me, but I am sure it would be diffrent for every reader..... For me the snake is a lover, who hurt the maiden, Spat curses at her Abused her, and then finnally rejecting her leaving her with the broken mirror, the shattered pieces of the broken heart.. This poems abstract ability to make it become rendered into what the reader percieve is an excellent way to go, because it will hit home to each reader. Another thing it could be. I suffer From Post Tramatic Stress Disorder, and the Snake could be the torturous past that continues to stalk and haunt me, untill my spirit becomes broken, like a shattered mirror on the floor... This is a profound poem and one that certianly makes one think, and truly a favorite. I will be adding it to my favorites and reading this daily to see what other meanings I can derive from it....... Thank you so much for sharing this materpiece!
