An Ode to Hades from PersephoneA Poem by MiaIntheSkywithDiamondsAn Ode to Hades from Persephone Father of Hell and all thereafter, With the sands of Death beneath thy feet - Taunt me no more, tempt me no more with the gunpowder on thy teeth. Thy ashen cloak engulfs my breast - Or would, if I dared to wear it. The corridors inscribed with thy conquests Shriek silently, muffled, the eternal sufferers bleeding and rolling and plucked Prisoners buried in thy breathless palace, And yet thou gaze unwavering across the years, With fire and fury, passion in thy soul, Still thy stony face unforgiving. And yet thou cradle the fruit of my mother, Too gentle a hand to extend forth to me And offer transparent the senseless seeds of thy love, Dripping soft-tempered promises Enveloped in purple goddess nectar, At last thy naked Truth appear! The Underworld doth bow to thee, Enamored of thy gravelled Famine - Leaving hunger in thy wake to be graced by thy mercy Enamored of thy bloodstained War - Thy milky-eyed rifles vomiting choking fire, Raining terror upon thy foes. King of Night, Keeper of the River Styx, Thou bow to thine own Pestilence - The shadows which ensnare thy enduring soul, Thy thirst for bloodshed internal now; Apocalyptic hero mine, seeking only, knowing only The familiar sigh of Death: Father of Hell and all thereafter, With the sands of Time beneath thy feet, Waste no more, spend no more in thy melancholic beat Thy ashen soul engulfs me whole - I wear thy Love proud on my breast for all eternity. © 2017 MiaIntheSkywithDiamonds |
