A Nadsat in AutumnA Poem by MiaIntheSkywithDiamondsWritten in "nadsat" from Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange. Thought I'd experiment. If you require the notes to know what the words mean, let me know in a review and I'll add or comment them.As autumn falls, the leaves turn a clockwork orange, Falling in cascades from trees, While poor saps like I viddy At a distance with my rookers in my pockets Knowing that like this is when the radosty of summer fades too And things get too like cold, such as my own good groody.
This is when all my droogs fall in love with their droogs. And I am but a lone devotchka, Running round trying not to get my ruddy heart broke.
But still it runs through my lonely gulliver, Pretend I'm even ready for the old in-out-in-out, When I've never even tried lubbilubbing for actualness, Just had the old in-out-in-out with some stupid bratchny, What never loved me"never when I asked like not to. And that all made me want to take a britva to me wrists" But I couldn't do that to you, you see.
I wish I were there to hold that there starry old veck, Pick him up his pornographic old books, We could smoke some cancers together, Sing us a warble, Go home and not do the sodding old in-out-in-out, Because we're better than that, aren't we? Better than being held by the yarbles To viddy with open eyes everything we are like missing? © 2013 MiaIntheSkywithDiamondsAuthor's Note
