Lonely Flower

Lonely Flower

A Poem by Ellen
"

A title for a poem I have been thinking about. I finally wrote this poem.

"
Here I am in a large field surrounded by grass and weeds, my stem reaching above all
with strength and power.
My color is bright orange, the sun shining brightly on my flower.

A butterfly will land on my flower once in awhile, drinking my nectar, making me
feel unique.
A car or truck will pass by on the road, running beside me, now feeling so bleak.

Not one takes the time to look around and truly see me, always looking straight ahead.
I am here, please notice me, I am not hard to find for I am not dead.

I do not want to be picked by your hands, I do enjoy where I stay.
So nice it would be for someone to come over and say hi, tell me I am beautiful, making
their day.

Does anyone take the time to truly look around our great land?
Look around, I say, you may find and see a lonely flower in a field displaying
itself so grand.

I always like this theme in poetry. In a way the human race is a lonely flower in nature with us being the only species to make extensive use of the written language and mathematics. It's mostly language and rocket ships that we display ourselves so grand with as a species.

Excellent work here.
