Boys Like You Assume

Boys Like You Assume

A Poem by Ellen
"

An angry rant about boys who assume.

"

There is more to me

Than what you see.

I do not write poetry to please,

I write it because thoughts inside my head

Terrify me. Because

People like you assume

That I am as complex as another one of your lovers,

Who you strip back to

Heart break.

I am more than my words,

More than a pretty face.

I could astound you, if you let me.

Worth more than a knowing gaze,

More than a bottle,

More than a fumble,

I am far more,

Than you will ever know, and I am sorry,

That you assume,

Alone.
