The Priestess And The Warrior

The Priestess And The Warrior

A Poem by danielle.

She waits for him on sacred ground
Watching, as he marches down
The battle’s done yet armor still he bears
Her gentle eyes take in his scars
And with one hand upon his heart
She whispers her intention like a prayer

Guided by a guardian
Who watches as she draws upon
The wisdom that remains of ages gone
She strums his cords till he becomes
Vibration of a beating drum
The power running through them like a song

As she rises like the sun
He opens to her and succumbs
All the promise of a flower poised at dawn
Her fire burning unconfined
As everything is intertwined
The darkness that had held them is undone

Heat subsides and what remains
Longs for the cleansing touch of rain
She gives her tears to wash away his pain
Now the healing has begun
Because the two became as one
And so the threads are woven once again...

For me, the symbols laid out in your title harken to the intertwining of sensuality & spirituality. As Carlos Santana often said, everyone is touched by a combination of sensuality & spirituality, which is how he views his music/guitar playing. Sometimes those who pursue a spiritual path see it as "purity" to leave behind physical manifestations of being human. I believe there's space to entwine both aspects of spirit & body -- that's how your poem speaks to me (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I like this style of poem; a blending of the mythical in a narrative frame, yet infused with soft touches of the Romantics....

I think you did a great job with this one. It flows evenly, keeps to the narrative and rhymes quite nicely in places. It had me thinking Game Of Thrones while reading this!

I enjoyed the poem. Nicely conceived.

"Sun and Moon at Heavens' end" keeps nagging at my brain, wanting to be at the end of the poem. It's so good that I can't help but want to add to it. Great work!

Thank you RJ!
This is a lovely narrative, capturing the relief and comfort of two coming together as one again after the battle has been fought. I like the image of the flower poised at dawn and the tears washing away the pain.
A lovely scene, and a well constructed poem, with its gentle rhythm and unobtrusive rhymes.

Thank you Jibey
words can heal....and healing is much better than infecting the wounds to make them fester and run...
"Come Together" as John Lennon sang...
"right now, over me"
