Fairy Tales Have Happy Endings

Fairy Tales Have Happy Endings

A Poem by danielle.

My mother said ‘the wind will change
And leave that look upon your face’
Today it blew from east to west
Decipher this expression, guess?

What do you judge by a facade?
There’s worlds between from end to start
As the gusts tear through the trees
I’m watching you but hating me

I know that you are lost in thought
A slave to whims not seen or sought
She never said what happens when
The weather changes back again

I don’t blame, it’s not your fault
Though I’ll wear your mind’s assault
And honestly, I know it’s true
It’s just because you’re hating you

It’s raging now, it takes the leaves
The storm is passing west to east
I love you, sorry, forgive me
Thank you. Can’t we be at peace?

Your title is so nauseatingly cliche, I was prepared to not like your poem, but instead, I love it. The multi-layered sentiments in your poem are a hundred times more complex & intriguing than the simple nonsense of that title. (Pardon me for railing about it). There are many strong nuances to your msg, so relatable, but the best: how it's often becuz we are hating ourselves that relationship issues occur. The way you showed that, instead of telling it, so simply stated, yet such a complex aspect of human nature. Love how you played off the two sides of that (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Strange how those sayings stick for life, jump up to remind us what... and, yet, day to day, they don't protect us from the all around. Your words tell quite a story, a darkness without reclamation perhaps, no turning back unless one cedes to the other and often, so it seems, can be, is always the same person who says 'Can we be at peace?' Certain people strike out, they can't 'do' the norm, they're not armed with what's the logical. You've swept the negative aside however, laid the ending as it should be when love stands firmly between the good and not so.. Fine writing, so easily true to form.. .

Mother's sayings have a habit f staying with us through our lives and this one has been turned to good use to express the hopes that accompany broken relationships. The final plea for peace is heartfelt. omen, in particular, seem to have this wonderful capacity to go on loving despite it all.

The structure of the poem works well, the rhythm moving us along in an irresistible direction. Powerful and touching. Thank you.

And when the storm blows up we can only wait for the eye to pass...neither sees how the destructive nature of the relationship can damage...disgusted by their own anger they lash out at each other...until one gives in and calls a truce...seen it many times.

and sometimes they just have endings.
this reminds me of someone...alcoholic personality ....her anger had to have an outlet...i was it...her attitude often would be...i hate myself so if you love me then there is something wrong with you.
been through it....and felt this poem...hit me like a slap in the face....good poetry will do that.
