This sounds like a Pyrrhic victory indeed. I like the way you've structured this one, the repetition creates kind of a mantra or prayer feel, and I love the last line... that really hits home.
At times, it does seem as if our world/society is careening toward some apocalyptic event that could wipe out life as we've previously known it. I find it interesting, the details that you include, to paint the scene of "nothingness" . . . this doesn't feel like a bad situation . . . almost feels like a relief. What did we expect, if we kept going along like a crazy bat out of hell? I wonder what comes after this "nothingness" part? Nicely thought-provoking words, stated straightforwardly (which I love) Fondly, Margie

Game of throne ending. Hard to digest and I did enjoy your poetry. When no-one is left. Who won? Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Tis Sunday, not a day to think of such darkness and yet... Yet perhaps, it is the appropriate time to think harder and deeper as to how it could be if... that last day erased us into kingdom come! However, is that what we want, at least some of us, many of us, most of us? Your negative phrases provide more than a warning.. they're the final 'amen', a good bye, here and now.. no questions asked. Guess we need ask if this could be the final poem?

By no means something that I wish for, but who knows what tomorrow will bring? I guess it is what you do with this realization that determines weather it brings with it darkness or light :)
Hmmm. This made me think of the Labor party headquarters after last weeks unloseable election massacre! A total apocalypse crashed upon their shoulders.
Seriously though, this poem makes perfect sense. In such an occurrence, all of the ills that we humans inflict, on each other, nature and the world in general would cease to exist. Nature would dominate and total peace would reign on Earth. We certainly do have a lot to answer for as a species.
An excellent write.

Your ‘in seriousness’ analysis sums up my thoughts perfectly.
wow, yes...to this....as long as there are people in the world...we will have all of these, especially wars and broken hearts...
if only we could have all of these while we are still around.
