Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by danielle.

Sometimes it's like a blanket

Sometimes it's like a blade

Sometimes it's like a flower

Or a shadow in the shade

Sometimes it makes me weightless

Or turns my bones to lead

Sometimes it's in my heart

And others in my head

Sometimes it is the instrument that leads my soul to bleed

Sometimes it is a sanctuary that greets my every need

Sometimes it is an echo in the cavern of this chest

An affirmation with each beat that will not let me rest

Sometimes it is my freedom

Others it’s my cage

Today it was the single tear that fell upon my page.

Wonderful use of words dear poet. The flow of thoughts led the reader to the proper ending. Us men and women, need to know some tears. To make us know we are alive. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Love is all this and more...an ache when none should be felt...a tear when none should flow...a heart to be held close...and one that wants to go.

a lovely poem...the repetition of sometimes works well.

A good write, elle

A beautiful poem about the many facets of love. Like a diamond it can be, but sometimes it can lose its sparkle. Lovely flow here, I appreciated the movement and the rhyme. Totally unforced work. Your final line really resonated with me this morning.

This was definitely one of those pieces that flowed, like that single tear in fact. Thank you again .. read more
Can't live with it, can't live without it.
''If'' you're in love you don't need to write about it.
If you've broke up, wow, you need to get it down to cleanse your soul.

I feel like love is not a static state. In my experience, life tends to get in the way!
i see it as the many facets of love...the many faces of it, the many disguises and guises of it.

and that single tear dropping to the page, like the ink with which we write about the unrequited kind.

Thank you Julie, this is definitely a poem about love.
It may mean different things to some others , but to me it is your faith you refer to ,a subject that is hard to describe with mere words. You caught it very well ,also the flow or meter is excellent.
well done
