Turning TowardsA Poem by danielle.I am afraid but I am ready to
face The deepest depths of my inner
most places
Like standing on stage naked I’m vulnerable and shaking
But I’m letting you in Through my barbed wire skin
I pledge to find you words in my
voice To forgive and forget for
mistakes made in choices
Finding the bottom and hitting
the rocks Felt like the end but here’s
where it starts
We slipped at arms length down a
river of contempt One bank a stonewall on the
other a fence
But still we clung to our
fragile raft At times only memories put wind
through the mast
Again through the rapids and
back to the calm Out to a turbulent ocean we swam
Washed up, depleted on a
desolate land Deserted but for many rocks in
the sand
And as we began to turn over
each stone The strangest things happened to
the landscape around
Before our eyes, things
materialised; a forest, a garden, a castle of size The grandest most beautiful
world for our lives
While we worked at the raft to
untie the ropes tangled Releasing the parts that the
journey had strangled
This place became filled with
the greatest of wealth The people we love and our own
precious health
Its warmth radiates from us two
at the heart Us that life ‘s challenges can’t
tear apart
A fortress, a power, a force to
behold With walls built to last, a
place to grow old © 2018 danielle. |
