Gossamer Girl

Gossamer Girl

A Poem by Ella Simone

Gossamer Girl

I want to be a gossamer girl
Slender and swanlike
Sewn of silk and mist
Buttery blonde
And karmically kissed

I want to be a gossamer girl
With stained glass for teeth
And sun-stippled skin
Velveteen veins
Used for violin

I want to be a gossamer girl
In a sandcastle
With grains sugar white
Sleeping soundly
Until warm daylight

I want to be a gossamer girl
With only a few
Dewdrops of distress
No pails of gloom
To wash her new dress

I am a girl who deprives herself
Til she takes too much
Caught between the fence
Of piety
And dark decadence

But I am not a gossamer girl
Kept in collagen
I’m blood and bile
Made of marrow
Vexed and virile

I know there is no gossamer girl
There is only me
Trying to be good
Wandering in
Weeds of womanhood

Hello, Ella! :)
As a man who seems to always fall short of perfection in the mind of my wife, I'd like some gossamer wrapping too. Haha
This is a fun relatable read. Thanks for sharing!
