[as you] turn your back

[as you] turn your back

A Poem by Jake Martin
"

quite daft

"
when i look at the sky
the beautiful empty void
it comforts me to know
that we are all alone

my mind will be full
up to its wide brim
of emotions and pointless thoughts
that once meant the world to me

you're always the first one to speak
always the tone of surprise
i don't even know why i try
to redeem myself in your eyes
i know that once we were more
than strangers passing on by
but when my thoughts don't feel dead or alive
i just try to look at the sky..

feeling is not better than seeing
i try not to see with my eyes
the blind must know all of the secrets
and the time i spend here is just mine

hidden inside of a cave
of emotions and stupid wants
i was stuck outside in the rain
and the morning found me on your doorstep

glory, glory
it's all that we want anymore
sick and sorry
it became the pain that
makes you hold on

to the smallest glimmer of hope

i realize what i've done
as you turn your back on me
your knees don't carry you well
some things were just not meant to be

Author's Note

Jake Martin
this was written with a song in mind, so keep in mind that some of the lines may be awkward when read straight without a varying, lyrical rhythm. im proud of this one :)
