flies

flies

A Poem by Jake Martin

pay attention to the signs

don't get distracted on the road

when you're hurtling down the highway

in an uncontrollable box

your lord is staring you in the face

listen to all that he says

i don't want to help you fall apart

but you fall apart alone

he lies, lies, lies to you

your fear will make you blind

and he lies lies more to you

and the island burns on down

primal instinct leads you

down a path of darkness

i needed you to know this

before all of this started

power power power

it leads us all to nowhere

i can't do more than i have done

to make you see what's going on

and the flies keep flying on

and the liars go on

the steep cliff that is endless

i want you to know this

the death of reason will be

it will be the end of us

the world, it can't save me

corrupt is still corrupt

before the smoke has even cleared

and the bodies disappeared

the man in the coat is here

the man with the boat is here

crying out helplessly

but i can't even make a sound

and you know very well i told you

told you not to do anything

dumb...
