in retrospect

in retrospect

A Poem by Jake Martin
"

hmmmmm

"

everybody has a different opinion

about what should and shouldn't be done, but

in retrospect it doesn't matter

to anyone anymore..

everybody saw a different scene and

everybody wants to have their own story

but in retrospect i think i've been

too harsh on you

Love forgotten, and Love remembered

Love destroyed, Love surrendered

the words they say can burn and bite

and tear you apart

and the dreams keep coming, i don't know why

i don't know why the dreams keep coming

you left me here, alone to die

but the day you left was when i fell apart

in retrospect, i love you more

but i can't tell myself to get to you this time

watching you just walk away

happy, but disappointed....

Retrospect - contemplation of the past
Had to look up that definition again because you used it in so many different ways lol. Thats great though! It adds repetition to the piece, which helped me as a reader, stay in tune to what you were saying. Think this is your best piece yet! Keep up the writing :)

I don't know what it is about this poem, but the emotions gripped me even more than any of your other poems. Good job! :D

Such powerful emotion in this.
I can understand the feelings here.
I feel as if a love was dying or simply fading away.
Dreams fade away as well as die.
We are nothing without a dream.
Love hurts I know, Love will always prevail as well.
Dreams die but sometimes shine too.
