A Boy's Love

Today I was sitting, watching a show

On the TV- not something

I do too often.

And on the show a man was singing

About love, about missing

Someone. 

His boyfriend.

My three year old sister,

Who's watching too,

Looks at me. 

She says, all upset,

"What is he sad about?"

I said, "He's in love

with someone."

"Who?" She asks.

" His boyfriend." I say hesitantly.

"Oh," she says, "Where is he?"

We continue talking.

But the thing that got me was to her,

Love was it. 

He loved his boyfriend. 

Okay. To her

Love is love. 

The end.

To a three year old it didn't matter

That they both were men.

So why is it so difficult

For other people

To accept?

Oh wow.. First let me say this was a fantastic read. Second, on a subject many turn from.. Love is love. To me it is the purist form of expression there is. Does not matter on with who, or the whys. Children see with eyes of pure, as all should. I also comment you on bringing forth this.. Great job!

It's an interesting account. I'm not sure I would classify it as poetry. It's a statement of philosophy and moral attitude. You write well, making it easy to understand what you're trying to say. Please keep writing and develop that creative urge. While I don't agree with the moral statement I commend you for the courage to express yourself.

Everyone has a right to express their views and I like how you expressed yours in this poem. Especially in the lines
