Beyond Expectations

You could expect, but be careful :)

She was happy. Too happy, in fact. It had been a year since her husband gave her roses, and here they are, resting idly on their sofa. This was probably going to be a surprise! Should she tell her husband she found out? No. She'd wait, oh, she really will!

This has gone beyond her expectations; her husband, a real insensitive person, has finally come to his senses! At last! He found out what his wife needs: love and affection, nothing roses can't achieve!

Of course she'll wait!

She was in her own bubble, when her son surprised her, "There they are!" he took them roses, "bye mom!"

When her husband entered, they stared. "What?" he inquired.

"JERK!"

"what did I do now??"

Actually, if you read Marie's comment, you would know that what the Husband did was that he has done nothing at all :) The wife expected him to give her flowers but that expectation was far from truth, so the wife just got pissed :)

Actually I got hung up on your use of "them" instead of "the", which is correct. I thought you had some reason for using "them" and got distracted."
