Waiting for Your Message

Don't panic! Stay calm until you know :)

I hold on my phone
waiting for your reply,
But what's taking so long?
I need to know why!

Did I anger you because
Only by message I confessed?
Won't you reply because
You don't want to hurt me so?

Well, I'm prepared for the worst,
Give me your best shot!
Well prepared even before,
I pressed the send button,

Don't hold back!
Reject me if you must!
It's better that I know,
than knowing not what you know.

And at last, I receive it,
and read it with with shaking hands,
I read it twice, read it thrice,
I just couldn't believe it:

"I love you too,
signal just came back."
Oh, stupid me! I laughed and cried with Joy!
I was panicking for naught!

This didn't happen to me :) I just wanted to show how our expectations are sometimes wrong... The inspiration to this... is the lack of signal right now :)

oh it's great...i know how it actually does feels...it always happens with my exams..when i expect to be getting average marks i score the highest..and when i am confident that i will score great..i end up making silly silly mistakes!like reading the question wrong)..."sigh" that's how life is i guess...unexpected!!..but i guess this is how it should be..otherwise there would be no fun...thanks for the excellent poem and to be honest..that very last stanza made me to burst into laughter...truly awesome!!

Very nice write on expectations. How we tell ourselves we are prepared for the "No" equivilant and we never really are. Rejection finds a way to hurt regardless. Deep sigh.. A happy response. :)

I agree with Marie, I like your ability to tell stories even through poems, but i'd love to read more of your short stories as well you always have your quirky twists and they just feel like everyday events that could happen to any of us :) although this was good don't get me wrong, i enjoyed it :)
