beauty and the beast

beauty and the beast

A Poem by elizabutterfly

Clouded by darkness, under the shroud of shadows,

He entered secretly.

Like a killer in disguise

Hidden behind the veil of society

and the barren words of responsibility.

His silence made a sinister noise,

His breath like a fiery stream,

Devoured every bit of me

His passion snatched my voice.

The night  was his

And I was asked

To forget who he was to me,

And to flow with the rhythm

Of his body.

The yellow rays made me conscious

To the stark reality,

 I struggled to face myself.

And he was there, smug and satisfied,

Making a veneer of camaraderie,

Masking his intentions with a harmless grin.

That night my soul was butchered

My world experienced an eternal strife.

He is now flawless, impeccable and masked,

And I bear the secret burden of life
