God Damn It

When I said "God damn it, I love you"

I knew I was using

God's name in vain

but I couldn't help it when

your name was in my veins.

For a great length of time you made my heart soar

but it's because of you that I'm now feeling internal aches this sore.

Not until now have I ever breathed life into sighs this size

or of this grandeur

I know something is either really wrong or really right

If it gives me the impulse to write.

You, you have been both.

Both a good morning and a good mourning,

both an angelic song's verses and my malicious evil versus.

You, you have been both.

When I say "God damn it, I miss you"

I know I'm using

God's name in vain

but I can't help it when

your name is still stuck in my veins.

I gotta say, I done generally condone homophonal rhyming (for I feel that's a bit of a cheat), but what you've done here is spectacular. Kind of gives a new degree of depth to the theme of duality in this poem. Also, the "God damn it" kind of made me laugh....its use was witty and brilliant in this piece. Absolutely fantastic! Well done!
