Once in a blue moon

Once in a blue moon your words get stuck in your throat and you have to look away from my gaze

and once in a blue moon I wish you would crack open and reveal what you’re thinking or at least allow your tongue to translate some of your thought neurons to words

but every blue moon you simply look back up and smile a grin that only I can tell is fake

and silly me all I’ve ever done is smile back
