THE SAD FAREWELLA Poem by elitheportSometimes love gets despondent and worn outTHE SAD FAREWELL I loved you
for your being I loved you
for yourself I loved you
for your seeing I loved you
more than self I loved you
for your temper I loved you
for your greed I loved you
for your humour I loved you
for your need I loved you young
and old I loved you
weak and bold I loved you
words untold I loved you a
thousand fold I loved you
now as then I loved you
one to ten But I’m tired
of you now Goodbye, my
love, close friend He left the
door ajar as he walked
slowly now away Waiting for
the cry, “My Love!
Don’t go!” But there was
only silence. And he knew,
as he always had, the patience
through the years with her was a waste
of time and he was weak to let it go
this far. He stopped
and turned and waited Willing her
to come But she
stood, stock still, stupid, loveless, dumb. © © 2011 elitheport
