I AM SO EXCITED

Having just returned to the office after a short break and opened the mail, I sat despaired for a short while - then.............

I AM SO EXCITED

 

This wonderful, exciting thing that I am doing

In ordering over the internet

Recycled cardboard box files, foolscap folders

All in red

All ready

To place the myriad of paperwork

That litters my desk

In neat and ordered compartments

On the shelving above my head

So that the confused myriad of information

That lies, screaming, arms outreaching

With clutching fingers

From these papers

Can be eradicated from my mind

And I can sleep in peace.

 

I am so excited, it is as if

Having been plagued for so long

By the raiding horsemen

Of the Norsemen

That my village has dug

Several deep trenches

Into which these raiders of my sanity

Will fall

And although, as I pass safely by

I may just peer into these pits

To look in contentment

At where my tormenters lay.

 

 

 

They will no more panic me

No longer control my life

I will no longer sit at my desk

With the strangling fingers of

Tax returns, purchase invoices

And other lists of indeterminable

Lines of figures pressing tightly

Round my throat

Choking me

Provoking me

Draining my life-blood away.

They will all be filed away.

 

I cannot wait until I receive

My delivery

Of brand new, recycled cardboard

Box files and foolscap folders

All in red

All ready

To rescue me, to save me

Cunningly cheating

All those government departments

Churning out new tortures.

I will just sit and laugh.

 

And now, I press the button

On my computer and yes!

I have ordered my release from my trapped

Prison.

I am so excited.
