SNAKES AND LADDERSA Poem by Elise AntonPink best reflects the effect of discord.Deep sky above, soft breeze,
the sound of distant waves
and gently swaying gum-trees.
He over there. Whoever.
Some office tower
gazing up at the backside power
of those on higher floors
as others stare at his backside
envying his new glass doors.
Sly corporate snakes
drop him for a while
and previous mistakes,
ridicule him from above
as he now shakes,
grasping the ladder tight,
another parasite.
He dare judge me.
I walk on level ground.
And when I fall, I stand, rebound
for I have landed on soft sand
not in some sucker's wonderland.
He gasps at my bare feet
dirtied by the long walk back.
His mind a balance sheet
"Can't take this in the sack,”
I hear him thinking.
Absolutely.
So let's agree to be
just tolerantly dishonest
forget the summary
and all the other nonsense.
Piss off politely, return unlikely. © 2016 Elise AntonFeatured Review
