Two short blacks, extra sugar

Two short blacks, extra sugar

A Poem by Elise Anton
"

Stalking much?

"

Hid behind a book

like some scene

like living the pages

as you walked by

so close

I could have

touched

or at the very least

looked up.

Two short blacks

extra sugar

and thirty odd pages

before that thing

welled up

and screamed.

Hello.”

I said that

to your back

half expecting you'd feel

my voice and turn.

Stalking much?

Nuh. Just once in a while

just-enough

and mostly never seeing.

Today luck and a suited stranger

brought us temporarily

within this shortest distance.

May well have been

a scene until

I turned the page

and realized

you were real.
