A Planet Called CorruptionA Poem by Elisa LThere was once
a planet called Corruption, where the
flowers only ever bloomed at dusk and it was
much too dim to see their petals. The flowers
were all roses and tulips and black, and they
blended in with the air around them. Nightingales
lighted on branches at dusk, on the
planet called Corruption, but no-one ever
saw their feathers for they
blended in with the air around them. Corruption
was a man made world, built of
silver buildings stories tall. Where men
knew and took what they wanted and left
what they didn't at the edge of a cliff at dusk. There was no
such thing as love on Corruption; not from
fathers or brothers or sisters. Not even
from mothers. And they all
left their children lying about to care for themselves. That is how Corruption died. They all starved to death as babies. © 2013 Elisa L |
