Fantasy Life

Fantasy Life

A Poem by Elisabetta
"

I wrote this back in college, I thought I wrote it for one person, but it turns out I wrote it for someone I hadn't met yet.

"

In my mind, I see her;

She is waiting for me.

I love her with all my heart, all my soul;

My life is empty without her.

She is my soulmate; but you say I cannot love her.

You say I am wrong;

You say she and I can never be together.

You say our love is wrong;

I believe you are wrong.

She is my sun, my moon, my goddess, my fantasy.

She is not a monster;

She is not dangerous;

She is not wrong.

She loves me;

She needs me;

She believes in me.

She also believes in you;

It is possible to love everyone.

It is possible to believe everyone is equal in life and love;

It is possible to be in love right now, in this society, in this world, in this culture; with someone like her.

If I am wrong to love her, I am only wrong in your mind;

For in mine -- she has made me the happiest woman alive.

If only she existed outside my mind . . . .

I love you my angel.

Beautiful. Almost rhythmic enough to be spoken word. The message is so meaningful and powerful, too -- at least to those of us who can relate. Bravo!

I meant "she", not "the." I'm out of sorts.

beautiful. I love how it breaks into a sort of "chorus" kind of thing when all the lines start beginning with "the." This is very heartfelt, I can tell, and with your description of what it's about (which I figured out on my own when I read this before even reading the description) makes it that much more moving.
