I'm Not Who You Think I Am

I'm Not Who You Think I Am

A Poem by Elisabetta
"

Written for someone in particular after I had to pick up the pieces of their life, again

"

You think that I am

So Sweet

            So innocent

                        So pure

I'm not who you think I am

You see me as

Honest

            Loving

                        Trustworthy

Sure, when it's convenient for me

You see

My love

            My support

                        My guidance

You miss everything else

You don't see

My pain

            My frustration

                        My disappointment

You are always the damaged one

No One Sees

My fears

            My pain

                        My needs

Especially You

You think that I

Accept You

            Trust You

                        Need You

You're wrong

I am no longer

Your Doormat

            Your Crutch

                        You're Enabler

I am standing up for my dignity

I am not the person you think I am

I used to think that joy was something you either had or didn't. I now know that pure joy has to be found each and every day. more..
