How you see me

How you see me

A Poem by Davis Blake
"

Revision of a previously written poem. Concerns a relationship of mine that occured some time ago.

"

I need no preamble,
You love every line on my face.
But when I become insecure,
You about face.

You say I'm your superman,
As you look me in the eyes,
But when you take a second glance,
I know that it's all lies.

I'm not like those other men,
Content with a mundane existence,
But when it comes to you,
You want a better life,
Without me.

Do not deny,
Bite your tongue,
When you look at me dear,
I am just some bum.

Climb Mount Everest?
Not me
By any means,
But surely another man,
According to you.

I see a frog,
Desperately wanting a kiss;
Be my genie and grant my prince charming wish.

I try and Hope,
Wish and doubt,
Every word that comes out of your mouth.

Still,
I love you.
