My child's daddy

My child's daddy

A Poem by Elfinpunk
"

I don't think people often understand how hard it is for a man to walk away from a disasterous marriage when it includes walking away from his child too.

"

I think now I understand why

In happiness you sit and cry

Newly born and empty still

Her eyes fix on you and slowly

understanding grows.

It's tiring.

She goes to sleep.

You are her world, her only knowledge

Her first germ of understanding

Is that you and she exists

And that is hope enough for her.

Nothing ever lasts forever.

I'm sorry now you're not together.
