IsolatedA Story by elenaluisa
Outside, gloomy raindrops, as cold as her
broken smile, fell from the clouded sky. The girl sat heavily by the warm glow
of the fire, twisting her fingers into knots. Slowly, a small salty tear
trickled down her bruised and troubled face. Just a few hours ago, she’d been
the happiest girl alive; or so she’d thought. Lifted her trembling hand towards
her chest, she carefully touching the
spot where her happy heart once beat, as if she was worried that she might
damage it further. As the past few hours played in her mind like a silent film,
once again, tears quietly streamed down her face from her blood-shot eyes.
Burying her head into her knees, she rocked steadily, back and forth, in the
isolated room, to the sound of her
lonely, beating heart. © 2017 elenaluisa |
